The Mansart Foundation recently acquired a button that belonged to Richard Seymour-Conway, 4ᵉ Marquess of Hertford, (1800-1870). This button features the family coat of arms with the motto of the Order of the Garter, Britain's highest order of chivalry, "Honi soit qui mal y pense" referring to his knighthood.

An influential member of the British nobility, Lord Hertford was a great art collector. He lived mainly in Paris, where he built up an exceptional collection of French paintings, furniture and pieces of art. He passed on his collection to his heir Sir Richard Wallace, which is now on display at the Wallace Collection in London.

Richard Seymour-Conway owned the Château de Bagatelle from 1835 until his death in August 1870. The estate was bequeathed to the famous Sir Richard Wallace.
