No one can say for sure today: no portrait of him has survived.
His recumbent statue, once kept in the castle’s Saint-Nicolas Church—a precious record of his features—was unfortunately destroyed during the Wars of Religion.
His face thus seemed lost forever…
And yet, an incredible historical investigation begins today: the reconstruction of Jean Cottereau’s portrait.
